ACT Labor Candidate for Murrumbidgee, and local Kambah resident, Chris Steel, today called on the community to support the planned expansion of the supermarket at Kambah Village, by a signing a petition.
“We live in the ‘largest suburb in the Southern hemisphere’ – with the smallest Woolworths, said Mr Steel.
“The people of Kambah deserve to have a full service supermarket option available.
“Currently residents have to drive to Cooleman Court, Mawson or Wanniassa to do a full shop.”
The plans for the expansion contained in the Kambah Village Masterplan, which was finalised by the ACT Government in 2012, following consultation.
Under the Plan the Woolworths at Kambah Village would expand from 1611 square metres to 2500 square metres, onto the adjacent public car park.
Mr Steel said he would present the petition to the ACT Government in support of an expansion.
“I urge the community to show their support by signing my petition to start the upgrade to Kambah Village.”
